Brand icon with new inner life
Since 1994 the LANGE 1 is the face of A. Lange & Söhne. For the manufacturer's self-understanding, she became a kind of Magna Charta. Now the new edition of the successful model has received a technically advanced hand hoist caliber. From the outset it was clear: the distinctive design of the LANGE 1 is retained.
It began in October 1994, when A. Lange & Söhne presented a timepiece with the programmatic name LANGE 1 to the public. Watch builders were enthusiastic: With the combination of innovative design, outstanding functionality and craftsmanship, the Saxons demonstrated the courage to change and respect the tradition. It is therefore not surprising that the LANGE 1 has set a trend and is now one of the big clock classics. 
With a new manufactory caliber - the 50th in the series of its own works - a new chapter begins in the success story of the icon, to whose family now 15 different models belong. However, there was virtually no change to the tried and tested dial design. The only external indication of a change is a minimally narrow bezel. It gives the watch a more generous appearance with the same housing diameter of 38.5 millimeters. Under the familiar decentralized dial with its large-scale display and the prominently placed gear reserve display, the new manual hoist works with the caliber number L121.1, the development of which has gained the experience of almost 25 years. The result is a consistent technical evolution. The new clockwork has changed a lot. The exact jumping display of the big data will continue at midnight. The power for the relay is slowly built up over a period of several hours. In addition, the LANGE 1 got a gangway with an eccentric rest and a free-swinging balancing coil from our own production. This oscillates further with a frequency of 21,600 half oscillations per hour under a handgravierten balance cock. The tried and tested double-spring house with its reserve of 72 hours remained.

When looking through the sapphire glass bottom, all the distinctive quality features appear. Among them is the three-seater plate, made of natural nickel silver, decorated with a glash-nut band cut, which protected 150 years ago the precious inner life of pocket watches. The eight screwed goldchatons, which are held by thermally blown screws, come into their own.
The LANGE 1 will be available in the classic case dial versions yellow gold / Champagne, rose gold / Argenté and Platinum / Rhodié.
